pseudo luminous glory

Can you imagine
there are people in this world
who don’t squeal at the
sight of the moon
on a noisy night,
or a lousy evening?

People who
get on with their lives,
tidying up the kitchen,
folding clothes,
planning tomorrow’s breakfast
(and lunch).

People who make light
of this ball of rock
bouncing off light
from a ball that’s
neither liquid not gas,
so far away, we had to
come up with a unit
to measure the distance
in time.

People who don’t
smile to themselves
for a quarter of a moment
when they see the moon up there
in all its pseudo luminous glory.

I don’t understand it.
