a good girl
i wasn't a teenager when i was a teenager.
didn't smoke, drink, steal, do drugs,
talk back, didn't lie about my whereabouts,
kiss boys, forge parents' signatures or sneak out.
i was a good girl.
i even believed in god.
as if to make up for it,
i cut my hair today.
admittedly did it like a good girl would -
with planning and research.
i now look like i did at 13.
at least to myself.
and that's the universe's joke for me
for today.
